Cardiff road closures announced for November rugby internationals

Cardiff Council has announced that a number of streets in the city centre will be shut down for Wales’ three autumn internationals at the Principality Stadium in November.
Match dates and road closure times
The Welsh team will meet Japan on Saturday 7 November, with the match starting at 4.40 pm; New Zealand will visit on Saturday 14 November, kick-off at 2.10 pm; and Australia will play on Saturday 21 November, beginning at 8.10 pm. The full city-centre blockade will run between 12.30 pm and 9 pm for the Japan game, from 10 am to 6.15 pm for the New Zealand fixture, and from 4 pm to midnight for the Australia encounter. Station Terrace will be subject to restrictions during 6.15 pm–7.45 pm, 3.30 pm–5 pm and 9 pm–10.30 pm respectively.
Both Scott Road and Park Street will be closed from 7 am on each match day to facilitate preparations at Gate 5 and to safeguard fans queuing for entry.
Specific roads affected
The closure will cover Kingsway between North Road and Duke Street; Cowbridge Road East from Cathedral Road to Westgate Street; and Tudor Street extending from Clare Road to Wood Street, although residents and traders will retain access via Fitzhammon Embankment. Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street will be blocked between Despenser Place and Tudor Street, with local access still permitted.
Additional streets that will be inaccessible include Duke Street, Castle Street, High Street, St Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road. During the specified periods, Station Terrace and Guildford Street (from Newport Road to Churchill Way) will be limited to bus traffic only.
Penarth Road will be closed roughly half an hour before the final whistle of each match and will stay shut for up to an hour afterward to aid the movement of rail passengers. Parts of the Civic Centre, namely King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road, will be under controlled access throughout the day, allowing entry solely for event parking, a limited number of commuter spaces, loading operations and private car-park use.
