Ho Chi Minh City’s 50th Anniversary Celebrated Through Art

Ho Chi Minh City marked its 50th anniversary with a unique initiative, ‘Our Beloved Ho Chi Minh City’, organized by One Central Saigon. The event celebrated the city’s rich history and diverse identity through art and community engagement.
Artistic Tribute to the City’s Heritage
During the celebrations, an expansive artwork adorned the façade of One Central Saigon, showcasing iconic landmarks from across Vietnam. This display highlighted the country’s diverse identities and the convergence of memories and people in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event also featured interactive installations at September 23 Park, where visitors explored artworks inspired by community memories and perspectives. These installations offered a multidimensional journey, utilizing 360-degree LED cube displays and touchscreen technology.
Community Stories Take Center Stage
A key highlight was the ‘Write a Story, A City’ competition, organized by One Central Saigon and Tri Thuc e-magazine. The contest received 1,000 entries, with 100 outstanding submissions selected by the jury.
Thi Anh Dao, marketing director of Masterise Group, emphasized the importance of preserving memories and values that define the city’s identity. Nguyen Thanh Hung, deputy editor-in-chief of Tri Thuc e-magazine, noted that the competition showcased the city’s identity through everyday life and intergenerational memories.
For residents, this initiative offered a chance to reflect on their personal connections to the city. The stories shared became a way to honor the past while contributing to the ongoing narrative of Ho Chi Minh City.
Preserving Culture Amid Urban Growth
The 50th anniversary also highlighted Ho Chi Minh City’s transformation into a leading center for economic growth, culture, and innovation. The celebrations showed the city’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage while adopting modernization.
Through ‘Our Beloved Ho Chi Minh City’, the community’s memories and emotions converged, shaping the city’s identity. The initiative aimed to engage younger generations with history through interactive experiences and technology.
One Central Saigon, launched by Masterise Homes on May 13, is envisioned as a symbolic destination where Vietnamese identity and global influences meet. Located in the historic Ben Thanh area, it seeks to carry the city’s legacy into the future.
